Linda passed on to be with the Lord on Sunday May 24, 2009.
She will be missed by many.

Linda Best was great mother, wife, dear friend and amazing horse woman. In the spring of 2008 Linda and her family received some devastating news. Linda was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She and her husband, like most farriers, were self-employed with no health insurance. This resulted in a hardship for her family.
Ribbons for Linda is a non-profit organization that was established to help Linda and her family during their time of need. Over the past year many friends and family members came forward to help the Best family so Linda could focus on battling this horrible disease. Sadly, on May 24th 2009 Linda passed away.
Ribbons for Linda continues to raise funds to help with pancreatic cancer awareness and research. In 2008 and 2009 we held two miniature horse shows and a trail ride for the big horses. We have also organized many raffles and other smaller fundraisers. All with great success.
The next fundraiser will be a Ribbons for Linda Cookbook. 100% of proceeds will go towards pancreatic cancer research in memory of Linda Best. The cookbooks will be ready in early March. This will be just in time for Easter and Mother's Day.
Future fundraising event will be a Fall Fun Horse Show for big horses & miniature horses in October 2010 at Cumberland Fairgrounds, Cumberland, Maine. This will be a very laid back fun day with a pot luck lunch. No halter classes, no show clothes, no clipping. Just a lot of fun with monies raised going to a great cause. Again, more info will be posted later as we have it.
